The Koru team has managed to upgrade from a Community Based Organization to a Non-Profit Foundation to increase our capacity and scope. While Koru will still be working on assisting in health programs and vulnerable children along the coast of Kenya, Grassroots Economics will take over management of Community Currency programs. After more than a year of trading Bangla-Pesa is running strong and Gatina-Pesa in Nairobi is quickly catching up!

Gatina-Pesa Starting Circulation

Nairobi's first community currency Gatina-Pesa, following Bangla-Pesa's success has started circulation with vigor. Due to its dense population and size the area of Kawangware is really showing potential as an alternative trading hub.

Gatina-Pesa Launched

With an amazing march through the slum, starting from Congo and ending at Gatina Primary School the entire community has been mobilized around their own Community Currency Gatina-Pesa.
